Camp Chenaniah – Day Four

Another sunny day at Camp Chenaniah…a very emotional one however. Today’s evening chapel had a very moving drama presented. Our own Rod Quick played the part of a parent who was too involved in work and didn’t notice his daughter was growing up and spending less time at home. His daughters represented the daughter in the different stages of life. The daughter wanted her father to teach her how to dance. All this was done to the track of “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman. IT WAS VERY MOVING! Many children left the chapel early and had prayer/talk discussions with their counselors; many in tears! We are working on posting the video from this night. It was nothing short of amazing!

With that said, the rest of the day was spent in swimming, activities, crafts and bible lessons/small groups. As promised this post will provide a look at the camp facilities here at Chenaniah.

As we near the end of the trip, we will be talking with Chad and posting important information regarding the group’s departure from camp, expected arrival times and any other needed info. Please look for this information tomorrow. Thanks!

Part of the daily chapel services include dramas…this one is POWERFUL! Performed by our own Youth members and done last evening. A higher quality video will be uploaded later on but this will give you a snippet of it. MANY were moved beyond tears!

WOW !!!!! What an awesome experience! It is hard to describe to you eveything that is going on here! As I type this, I am watching the end of our evening chapel service and all seventy kids here are up at front dancing and having a great time!! It certainly warms your heart.

The group of kids that we are ministering to are from a different walk of like than most of our kids are and I think it is really making our kids realize how truly blessed they are.

Last night was an extremely difficult night for everyone here. Our topic yesterday was grace. We talked about forgiveness and the hearts that opened up last night were unbelievable. There are so many kids that have varying hurts, including our own. When I tried to close the sharing session that I was leading, I couldn’t pray as I was crying too much. I really don’t know how some of these kids cope with the pain that they are carrying. Well, I take that back, I do. They love God and that is one of the only things that helps some of these kids get through the day.

On to our own kids, WOW again! I know we have a great group of kids, but there are a few that have completely stepped out of their comfort zone and are doing some incredible stuff! I think watching our kids minister to these other kids is definately one of the highlights of this week for me. I hope to be able to share with some of you the amazing things that your kids have done.

I know that I feel blessed to have spent this time with all of these kids!

Camp Chenaniah – Day Two

The work God has been doing is just WOW! Every time I turn around I see God touching people and caring for them in unique ways. What’s more, is that I see the Lord using the NC campers in amazing ways! The work crew, the craft team, the Bible lesson team, the sports team, the counselors, the drama team, the mess hall team, not to mention the incredible leaders who have helped plan this from the biginning, and no doubt the praise and worship team–EVERYBODY is doing what he or she has signed up for!! After 2 and a half days, I am so proud of our group!!

Special ‘God-stuff’ is happening all over the place. Tonight, for example, a girl by the name of Grace (not from NC), came up to me with the perfect verse of the day. It’s Matt. 6:14-15 in the Message Bible and I used it in the chapel talk, tonight. Tonight’s chapel was about forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness for our sins and forgiving the people who have hurt us. Our whole day was about grace. This afternoon our Bible class was about the story of Joseph who forgave the same brothers who hated him and ended up selling him. Our theme for the week is “In it 2 Win it!” And so for today, since we’re on God’s team, we have forgiveness through Christ. And we’re called to forgive others as He forgives us.

After an amazing praise and worship with Brad and Mark and the band, and after an incredible drama the NC campers did, we all went outside to our cabin groups to share. I just sat with a group of high school aged campers–about 20 of them. They started sharing their struggles. One talked of the parties he’s been attending. One commented on the thoughts and desires he’s been having about girls. One talked about his bad language. One talked of the hurt between his mother and him. It was so cool to pray with these guys and to sense their awareness of God’s grace and to see them experience acceptance from the other guys and to just hear that they’re forgiven.

I AM SO THANKFUL!!!! We are living our dream! Our vision to impact people has come to life! God is definitely the miraculus conductor who has brought this week of camp and this ministry opportunity to be!

To whoever might read this I ask a special favor. Please stop what you’re doing right now and thank our awesome God who is working in us and through us on this trip! For one thing, we’ve become unified. It’s not an “us and they” around here. It’s a “WE” here. We’re all yearning to grow closer to God and to understand his purpose for our lives. We’re all teaching and encouraging eachother. We’re all In it 2 Win it!!

Also, please pray that God continues his work as we have the rest of this week ahead of us. Pray for health and strength as the New Community kids attend to their responsibilities.

Right now as I sit here, twenty minutes later after our group of guys closed in prayer together, I still see students sitting with other students encouraging them and praying with them. I still see a counselor sitting with a couple of students wiping away some tears. There’s healing here. PRAISE GOD!!!

Camp Chenaniah – Day One

Hi all from Camp Chenaniah! We had some internet issues preventing updates but those are fixed now; updates will be done daily.

Today began our first official day of camp! Our first morning chapel began this morning at 9 a.m. with 4 worship songs and the motivating song “Get Down” by Audio Adrenaline. The kids then began their daily activites of swimming, lessons, sports and lunch. Those were followed by swimming at a nearby lakeside camp. Evening chapel finished the evening with high energy worship, drama by our students and teaching the campers of God’s love for them. Day two promises even more exciting worship and activities…stay tuned! Stay tuned to the LIVE webcam feed tomorrow evening @ 7 p.m. we will be broadcasting the evenings chapel services.
